About Northumberland

Northumberland is England’s most northerly county, and although one of the biggest counties is the most sparsely populated. Much of the north of the county has been designated a national park, while the 63 mile coastline is ‘an area of outstanding natural beauty’. It is steeped in history and boasts numerous iconic castles and places of interest. Northumberland’s distinctive flag represents both the richness of its land ‘fields of gold’ (wheat) and ‘fields of blood’ (centuries of rucking with the Scots!)

In the pages under this section we’d like to share some images that will hopefully tempt you to come and visit ‘The Secret Kingdom’ of Northumberland, and base your stay here in Alnmouth at Puffin Cottage!
